What is UC&C interoperability?

In the modern office, we're surrounded by an abundance of technology, and there is no bigger gripe than when the technology doesn't work together. Imagine attempting to join a meeting on a busy schedule when suddenly one device isn't working with another device, even though it worked correctly with a different device last week. There’s nothing more annoying; however, the answer is inherently simple. Interoperability. This fancy word has begun to float around the world of Unified Communication (check out our dictionary to understand that one!) more and more. Interoperability is defined as the "ability of computer systems or software to exchange and make use of information."

A lack of interoperability is a major issue for any business trying to move forward in this technological era. A noticeable issue that wastes one of your most critical resources... time.

However, for any business improving their interoperability between new, old and customer UC&C systems, you'll quickly discover that there are only a few options available that make the process simple. Possible interoperability difficulties range from getting old legacy H323 video conferencing systems to talk to new Skype for Business systems to getting executives into Point-to-Point calls when they are away from the office.

There is, however, a simple solution. What you need is a portal... well a gateway portal to be precise. A Microsoft Cloud Gateway allows you to connect your endpoints with the latest Skype for Business software, and it's pretty easy to set up. With your new interoperable UC&C estate, you are able to connect with anyone from anywhere at anytime.
